Aside from bordering the Mavilla river, several of its freshwater tributaries run through the property. The Mavilla river is a natural habitat for tilapia, freshwater shrimp, guppies, crawfish, and other freshwater wildlife. In addition to its ecological value, Finca Palos Blancos has historical importance as well. During Spanish colonial times, between 1508 and 1523, gold was extracted in this part of the river, along what is now known as the Bosque de Choca Reserve, which shares approximately 1,800 feet of border with the property.

 

Ideal Uses:    Eco-tourism project (glamping), light farming (coffee, chocolate, oranges/citrus, anniatto [achiote], wild berries, strawberries, pigeon peas [gandules], beans, other minor produce), in addition to tilapia and/or freshwater shrimp farming.
